Instructions
In this activity, you will create and edit digital images and determine their resolution. This is an individual project, but as with all projects in this class, you are encouraged to help each other.
Step 1
Create a folder for this project on your Desktop. We will do this as a class. Call the folder Unit2.
Inside your Unit2 folder, create a folder for each topic.
Step 2
As a class, we will identify and discuss three current events. At least one of them must be local (i.e., taking place in Japan.)
Discuss the stakeholders, issues, and background of each event. Small groups will research one event each and share their findings with the class.
Step 3
Using screen capture software such as Snagit, collect at least five images for each current event. Save each image using a descriptive name.
Once you have your images, you can edit them using Snagit or some of the tools on the Free Software page.
Be sure to save everything in your Unit2 folder!
Suggestion! Consider making a subfolder for each event and putting the images for that event in that special folder. This makes it easier to find things.
Step 4
At this point, you have identified three current events and gathered and renamed at least five pictures for each event.
Now, put your pictures for each event together on a page. You can use any of the following:
Google Docs
Google Slides
Word
Microsoft Publisher
Any other tool with the teacher's permission
Organize your pictures in an attractive manner. You might have to resize them.
Be sure to include a page title on every page that indicates the topic.
Step 5
Once you are done with your project, upload your Unit2 folder to Google Drive and post a shared link to both the Google Classroom Stream and Activity page.
Now, enjoy each other's creations! Be sure to save your links because you may want to use some of these later in the class!
Extra challenge
Add captions to your pictures
Add borders or other design elements to your pictures
Learn how to wrap text around your pictures
Recreate your pages using a different tool (Publisher, Google Sites, etc.)
